Howdy List,

My '82 westy developed a new transmission problem today.  The tranny will
shift into third smoothly and drives in third quietly and normally.  When
you try to shift out of third however the transmission is very reluctant to
do so.  If you rev the engine a bit it seems to help get the tranny out of
third.  Once out of third the transmission shifts into all other gears
easily and normally.  This sticking in third occurs immediately and doesn't
seem to be effected by how long the car has been in third.

Other possibly relevant information about the tranny:
is that the tranny is running redline synthetic,
is the original (or is at least old),
jumps out of first on deceleration occasionally (has done this for years).

Any suggestions?
