I smooshed roofing compound on the underside of all that single-thickness metal in the fenderwell/step area and it has made a HUGE difference in the noise level when driving in the rain. I haven't tried touching it but I bet the quarter-inch layer of tar has added to the separation between interior and exterior temperatures.
