regarding no visible leak from a slave cylinder but which has failed:

Sometimes the leaking slave cylinder fluid is hidden inside the rubber
bellows.  I got the heads up from the list on that possibility a few
years ago and found my leaking slave cylinder even though there was no
external leak visible.

It was one had failed very soon so the bellows rubber was still very
good and contained the fluid.
