I did my clutch etc. (81 AC Westy) last summer. The hard part for me was getting the tranny to stay on saddle of floor jack, while lining it up. This took more than a few trys. Laying on the ground wheezing while getting strength back made the job longer as did being slow at torquing the CV bolts. And yes, I am just that outta shape! "wheez" Though the donor tranny might not be installed for long, it might be worthwhile checking seals on flange (to CV) and transmission at input shaft on good tranny for leaks. IIRC, the seal at input shaft isn't pricey. Don't know about plastic (?) seals on flanges. As for stuck bolts, the CV bolts have the biggest sticking potential. Just make sure you clean out star/allen portion of bolt before trying to remove them. You should be able to do this in a day. All things being equal. Cheers, Neil. 81 AC On 1/25/07, David Bohannan <fjazzbass@gmail.com> wrote: > I am planning on switching out my whiny tranny with one in my other bus > until I can afford to buy the rebuild...I don't want to kill the core! > > In any case, I have pulled the tranny once, but don't really remember how > long it took...is it do-able to pull both and install both in one day for > one guy?
