Below is my photo procedure from doing lower ball joints last month.
If you can get these loaner tools from your auto parts store it's
quite doable over a weekend in your driveway.  Just use lots of PB
Blaster on anything remotely rusty.  Soak it up the night before if
you can, then again the day you're pulling it apart.

At worst case, take the steering knuckles off yourself then take them
to someone (machine shop etc) with a press and have them press the
old lower ball joints out and new ones in.
