I don't know anything about Chevron products but up here in Western
Canada Chryslers and Shell didn't get along for a while, What ever
was in Shell fuel ate away at fuel gauge sending units causing them
to behave erratically as in bouncing from accurate to empty over and
over every few seconds. Each cycle was accompanied by the low fuel
warning bong. It could drive you crazy. I had mine replaced under
warranty and stopped using Shell gas. Seem to remember a class
action suit against Shell. Didn't have a Vanagon then but I still
don't use Shell products.
