Am I correct in assuming that my stock 1990 Westy does not have magnets that are employed in the cruise control mechanism? From the explanation and diagrams that are in the Bentley it looks like the vehicle employs the inductive pickup on the speedometer instead. The reason that I ask is that my cruise control is slowly failing. It will set and sometimes resume correctly but will release at the slightest bump. I will of course check the diaphragm and vacuum lines for leaks and also the vacuum pump for grounding issues and proper operation. Maybe someone on the list has had similar symptoms that led to one particular component failure. Any help is greatly appreciated. David, most likely your problem is the brake pedal switch has gone out of adjustment. Just adjust it so it does not activate when the brake pedal vibrates. It should only activate when you actually press on the pedal. This is the most common problem with the Vanagon Cruise Control system Cheers, Frank Condelli Almonte, Ontario, Canada '87 Westy, '90 Carat, '87 Wolfsburg (Forsale) & Lionel Trains (_Collection for sale_ (http://members.aol.com/Fkc43/trainsal.htm) ) Vanagon/Vanagon Westfalia Service in the Ottawa Valley _Frank Condelli & Associates_ (http://members.aol.com/Fkc43/busindex.html) _Vanagon Stainless Steel Exhaust Systems_ (http://members.aol.com/Fkc43/stebro.htm) _BusFusion_ (http://members.aol.com/BusFusion/bfhome.htm) a VW Camper camping event, Almonte, ON, June 07 ~ 10, 2007
