Based on a visual inspection, it was due to age and heat. The contact was very pitted, which caused it to heat up, and then the "contact wafer" broke. I jury rigged it by disconnecting the fried relay from the timer circuit, and soldered wires to connect a new, standard automotive relay. Prob solved. ;) j On Fri, 9 Mar 2007, neil wrote: > damn I'm good! > > Obviously it failed due to heat. > > Would heat be related to a change in voltage/current due to belt > break, or "wear and tear"? > > Jon? > > Listers? > > > > On 3/9/07, jon <jon@kenneke.com> wrote: > > > > > glow plug relay (can't remember correct part name) stuck "on"? > > > > Yup, you got it!!! ;) > > > > The wafer broke inside, and shorted. > > > > J > > > > > > > -- > Neil Nicholson. 1981 Air Cooled Westfalia. > > http://web.mac.com/tubaneil >
