Subject:Big end rod clearance 2.1 WBX
From:Tabe Johnson

Bentley says the "wear limit for big end rod clearance is 0.028". There's
a picture, with the crank out of the case, and a feeler gauge stuck in the
gap on the side away from the small end. Some questions:

-What is the new clearance? What's normal?

-Does it matter which side I measure the gap on? My crank is still in
the case and I don't intend to open it. It's easier for me to get to
the side near the big end.

-Am I trying to get the feeler gauge right down to the bearing or is
it really just the gap between the crank and the rod itself that I
want to measure?

Thanks all!

PS Thanks to Paul Guzyk for a post a couple of years ago about using a
piece of 3/8 threaded rod, 3/8" nuts, and a slide hammer to remove the
wrist pins. Worked like a charm! (Did I bend my rods doing that?)

PPS Can anyone tell from my questions I'm having fun today?
