I've mentioned this before. Worth mention it again...

The VW Fox (from only slightly less vintage than our Vanagons) had
brown window cranks which are compatible (though not identical) with
the vanagons. Quite a good fit, really. The overhead handle grabs of
the Foxes are also compatible with the door handle grabs of the
Vanagons.
