I started writing a question asking if body parts can be purchased to replace rusted parts at water/AC hook up area. (making job somewhat easier) Then I recalled this website with an awesome set of restoration pics: http://benplace.com/85westy_2_carosserie.htm scroll down a bit to images of panels in question being replaced. Though most of us would hire someone else to do work, it is worth perusing just to see that removing the rusted pieces and replacing with new is totally possible. And not that difficult..... in the right hands --- ;^) At some point I too would like to have rust removed and van painted. Maybe even with that cool orange-ish brown I've seen on the New Beetle. Or the cream colour. In my wildest dreams, I would have a shop with enough space so I could learn how to do body work in and restore my van like Ben did. In reality though, I'd likely have to hire out, hopefully finding someone who would take time to cut out rust and replace with new.
