OK folks I'll try to make this as short as possible. Please bear with my terminology as it may be a bit off. I have a brand new accelerator cable for my 90' Carat (automatic) and I need to install it. Shouldn't be too hard except for one thing. One end of the new cable has a straight metal end - this connects to the pedal in the front. No problem. The other end of the cable however is the socket part of a "ball and joint" type socket. This should connect to a "lever" that is mounted near the transmission. This should be no problem either except that the ball part that should fit into that socket is not there. The original had some rust issues and we had to cobble a temporary cable together. So is the part I need available? Will my 86' (manual trans) have the same type of hook up so I can steal that (I haven't had a chance to look as the 86' is a good 45 min away right now). Any advice or direction is greatly appreciated.
