If you are looking for a SS exhaust system, I'm afraid you are stuck
with "Ferritic  409" in most cases unless the mfr. tells you
otherwise.  It's malleable and weldable which the Austenitic 300
series SS (also called 18/8)  is much less so, but is on the other
hand very resistant to rust.
        Ferritic 409 is Stainless Steel but will rust with time and
corrosive environments (salt).
