I was thinking about the recent Syncro FS down in Florida.  Someone commented something like.."Well, sheesh, why didn't "mr. X" buy it and turn around and re-list it for a quick profit?"..."Because the seller obviously doesn't know that syncros sell for big bucks, check out the Samba, etc etc."  
  I dunno about that kinda attitude.  I mean, making a buck, yeah, we all have to do that, ok?  But buying and selling something that is best "used", that seems a little "off" to me.  Vanagons aren't friggin' soy bean futures, to be bought and sold, maybe even from a distance, simply to create positive cash flow for one who happens to have some investment funds. 

   If one speculates on a useful item..car, tool, whatever..and helps to  inflate  the value so that that type item becomes "too expensive to actually use for the purpose it was created for" that item then becomes a "Collector's Item" only(for the average human).   That's is not very good for people who actually like to use the_____________(whatever it is).  When Vanagons become collector cars and The Collectors give us a hard time for ..Gasp! Actually driving one through some brush or out onto a...road...That'll be a sad day, IMHO.
