Subject:Re: question: idle fluctuation problem on deceleration? (1.9L wbx)

Yes, I am also having this problem. I have an '85 with an auto trans, too. My problem is most apparent when the throttle position switch is slightly out of adjustment. A tiny bit one way or the other will fix the surge on over-run problem. If you increase the adjustment too much, the throttle plate will be open slightly, but the idle switch will still be closed. Bad, because it leans out and has a flat spot at low throttle. If the adjustment is made too small, the switch may not always close at idle, with a very poor idle the result, becuse the ECU isn't getting the signal that the engine is at idle.

driving on the freeway, and get off at a exit ramp, when i decelerate, i can see
the tach fluctuating briefly, rpm's going up and down... -its just when i
decelerate - when i let off the gas after WOT.. when i get to the bottom of the
exit ramp/stop sign whatever, and idling, it idles fine - no fluctuation..
its just when i initially decelerate that i get this idle fluctuation..

i dont get that "hunting idle" problem while sitting still. i had that
probem before and i changed out the AFM and it fixed that..

im thinking this is a problem with the TPS (throttle positioning sensor)
any ideas??

anyone else had this idle problem with initial deceleration after WOT?
