Hi Dennit Thank you for yourinput. I shall try to reply the best I can. A bit grimy/dirty, but I wiped it off, and it felt smooth. I greased the pilot-bearing with some grease on my pinky, as the pilot-bearing was quite dry. But pilotbearing felt very smooth too. Couldnt tell if the pins were rolling though. But felt OK. >Is the felt seal ring in the flywheel still in place and functional. This >needed to keep clutch dust out of the bearing and grease in. Didnt check this.Couldnt see felt. Looked like I was looking direct at marked face of pilot-bearing. >Did you check the arms on the throw out shaft? These arms can bend or wear >making the clutch partly inoperable. No, unfortunately not, I didnt think enough of checking those. AURGH - had I only read the Haynes step by step when working my way throu the clutch-job. But it was one of those days where I wanted to believe that I had the "magic touch" to be able to repair my car, without being traumatized by the descriptions in the Haynes. SIGH!!!!!!!!!!!! >Is the ball cup still intact on the operating,(slave) cylinder? I have >seen the ball socket fall out or break reducing the throw available. Yes, ball socket intact and cup intact - and a smear of nice new copper-grease. I will look at the slave-cylinder, see if there is enough throw on the pistion, or if I have to change it. I will look at freeplay at the mastercylinder/pedal linkage.
