Don't!! You never know when you may need a Westy! There was some really stormy, snowy, blizzardy weather that hung on the mountains and in the passes between Soldotna, AK and Anchorage. Finally the weather cleared, and the roads were opened, and folks began to drive the 150 stretch between the two cities. And then the avalanches came, trapping people in passes, and between points where the snow blocked the highways - for days. In one place, there was an early Westy stranded, and it became the home for 6 people who huddled together for 5 days for heat, warmth, and camaraderie - and a little food - very little, but at least a little. Just goes to show you never know. (We're in New Mexico and got stranded for more than a week during last week's storm. Maybe that influenced the outcome.) > > I've been reading this list for a long time and thought I'd ask here if anyone might be interested in an even exchange? We'd be especially inclined toward an older but reliable 4wd Honda CR-V or Toyota RAV-4 in good shape (that is, comparable to our van).
