Wake Forest just published a paper in Applied Physics about their plastic solar cell project. They just broke 6%.. it means that if one were to "paint" the top of a westy with it, it's max output at 12 noon on the equator would be around 42 amps or so at 14V. Cost is the preclusion, but it'd be cool, looks like the stuff is still 5 years away from consumers yet, as they apparently need to at least double that 6% to really make it competitive. In the meantime, using some roll out solar cells as an awning might be cool but not worth it. http://www.powerfilmsolar.com/ Jim Akiba
