Yes, this definitely works -- our Westy ('86) is actually missing its original rear table, when we bought it the front table was in the rear slot.  Ours doesn't swing easily to the open position (it kind of gets caught on the stove cabinet), but maybe I just need to fool around with the adjustments a little more (we just bought it a couple of weeks ago).
