If you are going to put a hitch on your van take a look at the ones that list member Dennis Haynes offers.  They fit well, install easily(though you may need to modify your rear bumper a bit), and attach to the frame not just the tow hooks.  I looked at a variety of choices did not find another that was as strong and easy to install as the hitch he offers.  You could of course have one made locally for you but if you want to order a strong hitch and easily install it in your driveway he makes an quality product.  Plus you are supporting a list member that is always willing to share his vast knowledge helping diagnose vanagon problems.
