Sometime back a vanagon fellow mentioned a simple sunshade/awning he
constructed out of pvc tubing.  The tubing fits into the jack wells. Two
45deg elbows and two 90deg elbows and a collection of tubing clamped to the
raingutter and a simple rectangular piece of shade material, your choice of
color and composition, will shade that side of the van somewhat.  Two
sleeves in the sunshade material to fit the tubes inside for the raingutter
side and the stretch side to support the fabric and you've got it made in
the shade.
