I think when the engine is cranking the fuel pump should be ON as well, even though the vehicle is just cranking not running yet. I have heard of air pressure blocking the fuel system after the fuel pump on the 1.9L . I should say I have read that on this list after a 1.9L has run dry on fuel. There is a chance that the 1 to 3 second pulse on the fuel pump is not enough to purge air in the fuel line. I think you can bleed the system in any of the way you have alread checked at the fuel rail or at that T fitting in the engine compartment. And while I suspect it may be your fuel pump, you can easily check for air in the line blocking fuel flow with a second person cranking the engine and you with the open fuel line in the engine compartment bleeding the air out. ***And others, please correct me if I am wrong, but I think the fuel pump does get power when cranking the engine even though the engine has not started running. Of course dealing with fuel and open lines in the engine compartment when your testing deserves caution as you don't want to start a fire. Now how does the fuel pump know if the engine is running? Is it a sensor in the AFM? I mean I'm sure the computer shuts down the fuel pump if the engine stalls. So how does the computer know the engine has stalled? Is it the AFM is completely closed and that sends a signal to the computer to shut down fuel? I bring this up in case your fuel pump is not getting any power except that intiail 1 second or so burst when you turn the key. I realise I've asked more questions than I answered, but hopefully with help from others we'll figure this out.
