You need to make sure the tank is never overfilled. When filling, the van needs to level, the bleeder open and the fill has to stop as soon as any liquid exists the bleeder. This level will allow for expansion. Another issue with an overfilled tank is the possibility of liquid exiting the delivery valve. This is one reason RV are required to have a 2 stage regulator. The combination of the 2 stages will allow the liquid to expand and reduce the risk of liquid entering the stove. However, liquid will carry the mercapton, (odorant). This will leave a gummy reside in the plumbing and if done often enough will carry into he fridge and stove and make a real mess. I'm ready to hang it back on the van, but I'm a little concerned about safety. The fill valve is manual in place of the old auto stop valve. Is this a safe way to go? Can this newly valved tank handle expansion of the propane? Did the old fill valve and or regulator have some kind of relief valve for increased pressure? I read an archived post that seemed to suggest that this config. could not handle expansion and posed a safety risk. Thanks again for you insights! Mark
