You could be right, but I thought it was the other way around, that the early ones had this glitch, and they fixed it on later ones. I put a resistor in place of the level sensor... ( when I need to for troubleshooting ) This keeps that part of the circuit happy, and then we're back to a 'normal' temp gauge system......needle points, and LED goes off only if temp gets too high. Faulty gauge circuit in the dash is a possibility too, or gauge, but you wouldn't normally expect that. Check the connections on the pressure tank or if the coolant level in the tank is more than a couple inches low. >From: Matthew Hokanson <vanagon88@GMAIL.COM> >Reply-To: Matthew Hokanson <vanagon88@GMAIL.COM> >To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM >Subject: temp gauge and coolant light trouble >Date: Fri, 27 Jul 2007 14:26:31 -0400 > >Hey all, > >Just recently, when I start my 1988 Vanagon GL, the temp gauge needle >immediately rises to the top of the gauge and the coolant light keeps >blinking (passed its normal start up routine). > >Any help or thoughts on this would be awesome.
