Hi,

A couple of days ago, I noticed a slight scraping noise (like brake
drum rubbing against the backing plate) when I made a slow, tight
turn coming out of a parking space. This morning I jacked up the back
of my Vanagon and shook the rear wheels. When I shook the wheel from
top to bottom I noticed a slight bit of play. But when I shook the
wheel from side to side, no play.

How much, if any play, is normal? We're heading out for a 10 day road
trip in two weeks, and don't want to have a bearing go on me.
