Last week my ignition coil failed (primary open) which surprised the heck out of me since I had replaced it on general principle about three years ago. I noticed that both coils have a notice stating "Do not use without a ballast resistor". Since there is no ballast resistor that I can see physically or on the Bentley diagrams, I am now wondering whether that warning applies only to systems with points? Can I safely ignore the advice on the side of the coil? Mike '86 Vanagon GL 'WasserLeaker'
