Just be sure to NOT turn the steering wheel when the van is stopped. Always
be sure that you are moving, even if it is ever so slow, before turning the
steering wheel. This should be normal practice, but most people don't even
think about it. Remember, the steering column is not designed to withstand
all that force. It is designed to be assisted by the power steering. I drove
one of my Syncros with the PS belt disconnected for years with no problem.
