During the bike rack thread of a few weeks ago I suggested using a single crossbar from a van utility roof rack installed at the far rear of the rain gutters. I figured to hang the bikes by fork mounts and deal with the rear wheels and the hatch somehow. Won't be necessary. Someone gave me one of these http://www.karriteus.com/products.asp?Product=Van last week and I just tried fitting it to the Westy. Works fine with the poptop down, but the slight inward offset (about 3/4") of the uprights causes the roof when raised to hit the upright. Clicking the Product Specification link of the Van Rack System item shows the problem. I'll use the Saris Bones hatch rack for a while yet, but if anyone wants this for a hardtop Vanagon, come get it out of my driveway (Richmond VA). Act fast 'cause i'm listing it in the local trader by tomorrow's deadline. Stephen ____________________________________________________________________________________ Sick sense of humor?
