Be kind to me as a newbie and a complete auto idiot, but I've decided to try to bring my syncro  back to health myself and have lots of questions.

My first question is:

As I'm driving along sometimes the van seems to lose  power. The motor revs (but not too high) but won't accelerate. This is especially bad when I'm in the
middle of an intersection.  Usually as I coast along it suddenly begins to engage again and off we go. What could be causing this?

Second question:

Several times the van has stalled while I was stopped (within 2-5 miles from home) and wouldn't restart. Once I got a push from the police to the top of a hill and was able to pop start it. Any ideas why?
