The Eliminator battery guard is on sale again this week at Canadian Tire. The ad shows two keychain remotes. Does this mean you can disconnect your engine battery remotely? If so, that would make a nice inexpensive theft deterrent system. $27.99 cdn, Regularly $70 part 11-3001-4 flyer description: "Eliminator Intelligent battery guard. Monitors battery drainage. Automatically disconnects your battery before it's drained beyond the level required to start your engine. Easy installation." >The name to type in the Canadian Tire web search box is: >--------------------------- >Eliminator Intelligent Battery >Guard<http://www.canadiantire.ca/browse/product_detail.jsp?FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=1408474396672454&bmUID=1186416721356&PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524443294641&assortment=primary&fromSearch=true> >Product #11-3001-4 >An innovative accessory that easily installs onto any 12V car battery >---------------------------- > >Price is not up to $69, but I sure it will sooner or later come on sale >again. It was in the weekly flyer a few weeks ago at $27. That's when >I bought it. > >Like Dennis pointed out, there are many brands of these voltage >controlled relays, with slightly different voltages and extra features. > >I wanted to open mine up to see what's inside, but it looks like all >compnents are molded into epoxy. The relay must be of some kind that >doesn't require a current to hold. Standby current is only 10mA which is >probably what the electronics for the voltage sensing circuit and >radio takes. (yes it comes with two wireless control units too keep in your pocket or on dash)
