It doesn't really shoot out enough to pool, and it shoots it out in a very
fine spray, so it just kinda sits there floating in the air. Also, the hot
intake valve and intake port surface of the head very much "encourage"
gasoline to stay vaporized. This is one reason why cars "choke" the air or
otherwise enrich the mixture upon cold-start-- fuel condensation. At any
rate, the fuel "cloud" only has to persist for 10-12 hundredths of a second
max (at idle!) before the intake valve opens and the charge is sucked in.
