  It was the alternator that was faulty as many diagnosed for me.  I called
from Alturas to the VanCafe for a replacement, which came in this morning to
LyleLand, got installed just now, and all is good with my turd brown
mouse-motored almost westie.  Pretty quick shipping, from VanCafe..ordered
Monday, arrived Wed morn..normal ground from Cali to Washington state.
  Thanks again, all.  I will be looking inside my core alternator to see if
I can find out what failed..the bearings aren't great, I could feel that
when I took it off..
