The stock VW single wire switch is a: 113 947 561G.

Should set you back about $2 for a brand new one.

Cheers,

Subject: Sliding Door "Courtesy Light" Switch

I am working on installing an interior light that works off a pushbutton
switch when the slider opens. I see there is a rectangular hole in the
column above the door lock contacts and a matching round hole on the
door.
Was this an option, meaning I might be able to find the appropriate
switch?
