We have three Vanagons (82 diesel Westy,83 diesel, and 86 gas Westy) and
they *all* have different behavior on the "gas" guage:

82: Runs out of "gas" still in the warning zone.
83: Never have run out of "gas", but on empty there still is around 1/4
tank.
86: Almost dead-on accurate. I can't beleive it...it's a VW for gosh sake!
