Subject:Re: Stubborn oxygen sensor

My brother, who is a PROFESSIONAL mechanic (as opposed to us shade-tree or hobbists), has given me this winning advice for removing stubborn O2 sensors - get it hot enough to melt candle wax, and then hold a candle to the base of the sensor, and let it melt its way into the threads. A propane torch, applied to the base and threads area, will be plenty hot enough. After a short moment of penetrating, while still warm, apply your torque. I was amazed, the first time I tried it on a rusted up mess of an O2 sensor!

blaster is ineffective. Would applying torch heat risk damage to the sensor?
It seems obvious that it is made for high temps but as high as a torch?
