Hi, If your 'alternator bolt only has one bolt holding it to the block' is meant to apply to all waterboxer vanagons, that would be incorrect. "The Alternator bracket sits on two studs in the block. They do break if things are loose there. If it's all tight, lasts just fine. Very common failure too, so it's smart to check *all* the bolts in that area. I dare say there are lots of waterboxer vanagons running around right now with things loose or starting to crack etc. in that area. -----Original Message----- From: Vanagon Mailing List [mailto:vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com] On Behalf Of neil N Sent: Monday, November 12, 2007 5:32 PM To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Subject: Pics of my Frankenstein alternator bracket supports! http://musomuso.googlepages.com/alt.tempbrackets They're temporary! They sure make alternator steadier though! Cheers, Neil. -- Neil Nicholson. 1981 Air Cooled Westfalia - "Jaco" (Bustorius) http://web.mac.com/tubaneil
