I would like to thank all those who have responded to me over the past few weeks, helping me to plan my upcoming trip to vermont! I'm very excited to spend my thanksgiving in or around Burlington, possibly sleeping in the back of our '85 volvo 240dl that will be our means of transport on this trip. Furthermore, my brother and i will be climbing Mt. Mansfield and we're eagerly packing our snow shoes and winter backpacking supplies. We have some tours we hope to take and some places we're hoping to make it to in and around Burlington, and it should be a great trip. One thing i looked into was Hostels in the area and according to the list i found on the Vermont State Chamber of Commerce Website, i made some calls. Only to find that of the 7 hostels i was considering, all of them have been closed for at least a few years (one had been out of business for almost 10 years and was still listed online!), this just goes to show you the importance of calling ahead. So it looks like we'll be spending a few nights in the back of the car and in search of cheap hotels, but it is bound to be one of the greatest thanksgivings i've had to date. We're going to "vermont sandwich company" to get turkey sandwiches on thanksgiving......they will be saved and eaten later on (the place closes early) for thanksgiving dinner. Expect a full report, i've gotten some great sudgestions and really appreciate your support! I'm just hoping to do a similar trip in a VW vanagon eventually (we're shooting for Bus Brrr). Have a great weekend everyone, and a happy holiday! -Craig '85gl
