Unfortunately, it's not that easy. If you check the specs from the manufacturers, you'll notice that a 25.7" diameter tire is need to turn ~805 revs/mile. But every tire is different, all the characteristics of the tire come into play when figuring out revs/mile: diameter, sidewall strength, width, etc. Cheers, Jeff -----Original Message----- From: Vanagon Mailing List [mailto:vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com]On Behalf Of John Bange Sent: Saturday, November 17, 2007 12:19 PM To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Subject: Re: Speed vs rpms w/ AT? Thanks, John! one other noteworthy bit: since the speedo is calibrated for 805 revs/mile, if you have a left front tire that is anything but 25" in diameter (5280/805*12/pi=25.0535582), your speedo indicated speed will be off a bit. Personally, I hardly even look at my speedo, insted just using my GPS. -- John Bange '90 Vanagon - "Geldsauger"
