Delorme has GPS systems for laptops and also a handheld unit (which I
haven't tried). I'm currently using Street Atlas 2008 "Plus" (MUCH
better Canadian coverage than before) with their Earthmate antenna.

Something that doesn't take a brain surgeon to operate, as the women I'm giving this to is not super mechanically inclined. Perhaps something that would warn you ahead of time of upcoming turns and so forth, but also provide for an alternate route(s) should you miss your turn--that kind of thing. Is something that works with a laptop computer a possibility? Any comments appreciated. I don't want to spent a fortune, but perhaps something in the $200-$400 range-- is that possible or am I dreaming?
