Ok, here's a link to the Chip Johnson story. His point is that with the murder rate what it is here, and with so many other problems, why is our city council worrying about RV parking? http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2007/12/11/BADGTRT0O.DTL I followed up on the actual measure, and it prohibits parking of "campers," defined in the Calif. vehicle code as, basically, a two or more axle vehicle containing living or camping equipment (yes, a Westy IS a camper for this measure.) Part of the measure allocates $50,000 to put up signs notifying the unwary, required by state law...this, in a city that can't buy saxophone reeds for its music classes or put cement in the cracks where the expansion joints used to be in the larger roads. If you live in a smaller community where there's ample space off street, that's one thing. But in a city, outlawing street parking means outlawing the vehicle, which is the predicament I'm in. Yes, government's hard at work to make life richer and more rewarding.
