Boy if you have a 96 Syncro, I want to get me one of those !
Did know they came that new.
Perhaps why it has headlights on all the time - Daytime Running Lights.

But if that's not it, someone must have changed the wiring, especially if
it's an 86 to 91 vanagon syncro.
There's not a common hack that I ever heard of. I'd just get out the
Bentley wiring diagrams and dig in.
Stock there's no head light relay I don't believe. I'd start at the
light switch, as that would be a logical place to supply 'ignition on'
power, also the headlight flasher stalk and it's wiring, that supplies hi
beam voltage just anytime it's pulled, key off or not, lights off or not,
and that would be a very logical circuit to check out I'd think.

Is there a common hack out there that I'm not familar with with someone can
wire the headlights to be on any time the ignition is on? Or could this be a
bad relay? I've seen high beems on when they shouldn't be with my Saabs.

Again, got a 96 syncro that is newer to me and just noticed that the
headlights are always on with the ignition! May want to get this back to
normal when I do the relay/bulb upgrade in a couple of weeks.
