Subject:Re: Porsche automatic transmission in a vanagon? Is it possible?

Why not put a complete TDI driveline in there sideways? Modify the drive
shafts to connect to the TDI tranny and be done. OK, so the ratio may be
too tall the other way due to our larger tires but maybe it is easier to
change those gears.

Subject: Porsche automatic transmission in a vanagon? Is it possible?

Hi Volks, this is the same message that I wrote 2 days
ago, just wanted to change the subject line just in
case any list members from germany sees it...

My main quest is to find a way to lower as much as
possible the RPM for a TDI conversion with an
automatic transmission (porsche?).

Hi Volks!

I was looking into upgrading my vanagon automatic
transmission. By the way I love the vanagon automatic,
it's a vacation vehicle is't it?

I looked in the rare option of ugrading it with a 3rd
bigger gear to lower the RPMs for my future diesel
engine conversion, but apparently that gear is NLA (No
longer Available).

I searched in the web if this was already done and did
not find any info, but does an automatic transmission
from a porsche 911 fit in the vanagon? just a
though... Or any other manufacturer?
