Subject:2nd ignition switch in 2 months???
From:Chad Lyles

morning all and happy new year.

this is absurd!? i got up to go to work this morning (first day back after a
3 week vacation) and i crank the 84vanGL... no head lamps and no front
heater blower or windshield wipers! same thing as last time... i just put
that ignition switch in less than 2 months ago!! WTF? UGH! ...any ideas as
to why it might be doing this?
something bigger than the ignition switch?
i have yet to look at the situation... its still dark out... and i don't
feel like fiddleing with it at this hour. i know the connections are good..
the high beams come on when i pull the high beams switch... so does the
blower and windshield wipers... haha (all at the same time i pull the high
beam lever) they just will not stay on... i have to hold the lever..
anyway ... it happened EXACTLY the same way it did last time... one head
lamp went out i drove with one lamp (actually i used the high beams because
both worked) for a week or two and then the switch went...this time i
just spent 20 bucks on brand new head lamps....(a day before i changed the
ignition switch...) the same head lamp went out a week ago... now the
ignition switch... both are BRAND NEW! if this was like a 2 second job and
the part only cost 50 cents i wouldn't be so hashed... but it takes at least
30 min and the part is about 30 bucks(if i dont want to wait for it) PLUS
the new head lamp.

if any one has any ideas let me know ... i cant keep doing this every time i
jump in my van. :(
thanks in advance.
cheers
Chad~
