Subject:Crazy Horn
From:Ben Cichowski

This morning, my horn started intermittently going off...it seems...when I turned right. My daughter actually thought it was pretty funny as we belted out honks at other cars while turning.

I pulled the cover and took a look, but the contacts do not appear to be out of wack - I have my Bentley at home, but don't recall whether there are specs on this - it's a pretty simple mechanism and this isn't much to adjust here.

I've had another vehicle (Not VW) go off in hot weather when the metal strips warped under temp changes, but it was never tied into turning in a specific direction.

It seems like the contacts on the spring-loaded horn section are not to blame, but perhaps it is making a connection further down. I haven't pulled off the steering wheel in a while, but I wonder if a connection could be made on that brass contact ring just under the wheel - Anyone had a similar experience?
