Max,
Are you saying you removed the oil filler tube and no oil came out? Hmmm.
  The last time I had a block apart I noted the internal oil levels
corresponding to the marks on the dip stick. The lower mark puts the oil at
the bottom of the cam shaft, well above the filler tube hole.
