3 years ago I was boogie boarding on Assateague when I looked right next to
me to discover a small shark swimming along side me. I paddled back to shore
in a blur of kicking feet and thrashing arms. Yeah, they tell me that I'm
much more likely to die from a lightning bolt than being a fish's lunch but
I'll take my chances with the lightning. I sleep better with a propane and
CO2 alarm in the van.

This comes to a personal decision, I reckon. My guess is that my risks of
dying from a vehicle accident while driving on the road, or from a scratch
leading to a MRSA skin infection, or from a stray bullet, are probably
far, far higher than from a midnight propane leak. But hey! if someone
sleeps easier knowing they have a propane detector in the van, then that's
a good thing!
