Frankly, I don't really remember paying much attention to the VW lots in the 1980s but I don't really remember the Vanagons flying off of them. Certainly the Eurovan did not do well here. I just don't think that VW has EVER had much success marketing a "minivan" in this country since the original microbus. Partnering with the undisuputed king of minivans, Chrysler, is in that regard not a bad idea. But I do think that most buyers will just buy a Dodge Caravan or Chrysler Town and Country if they want this kind of a vehicle. In retrospect I think my Vanagon has a lot more utility as a family hauler than my Grand Caravan did, though I liked the Grand Caravan quite a lot at the time. I don't understand why VW has had such trouble with the minivan segment -- maybe they were just always too expensive and lower in "gadgety feature" content than Chrysler. We'll see how they do this time around. Allan -- 1991 Vanagon GL
