Hi Hugh,

Welcome aboard!

I have a "Non-commercial" flue vent cover that I leave on all the time
except when using the fridge on propane. When I first got my Westy, the
burn chamber was full of rust chunks which I attribute to water going
down the flue. My cover seems to help.

I especially don't like the stuff that's put on the roads in the winter
to go down the flue. The "buildup" on my cover pretty much shows me
what would be going inside without a cover. My cover stays in place in
high winds and at highway speeds (I've never had it come off in use).
