Apparently this is a hot topic! Take note VW! For the record I didn't even mention the TT in my original post. I quite like the TT, and to be honest I don't know if I'd ever be in a position financially to buy one, but it's not a VW on the surface. Whether it is under the hood i guess is a different matter. My point is that VW is missing out on a significant part of the market, and by that i mean me. I don't want a VW that says Audi any more than i want an Audi that says VW on the hood. I have to admit though i often squint my eyes and pretend my 03 Beetle convertible is a TT convertible. Sigh. I'll look into the Golf/R32 (as you can tell I'm not that familiar with them) but if VW is going to go out on a limb with the Phaeton and Eos they might as well goof up and give me a VW sports car. > > From: Lee Kirstein <leekirstein@GMAIL.COM> > Date: 2008/02/01 Fri PM 03:30:08 CST > To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM > Subject: Re: NVC: I want a sports car > > Where to begin... > > The R8 wasn't even mentioned and shouldn't even be mentioned in the same > class as your average VW or Audi for that matter. > > I think all Jeff meant was he want's a purebred german sports car for the > "everyman." > > He doesn't want a Ford Escort with different badging.
