I'll bet that in 'max fuel conservation mode' - that's like 31 mph, lights and all electrical off, no weaving or changing speed, and about 11 % throttle, I can keep going on full 'E' for up 5 minutes. ( I"ve done that in the desert too ) And if you do run out, and just need that extra hundred yards, you swerve, And that sloshes the last tiny bit of fuel so the fuel pump can pick it. When you really nail it, you coast to right to the pump at the gas station. I do think it's good to at least carry the gas can. Easy to get a ride that way too. -----Original Message----- From: Vanagon Mailing List [mailto:vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com] On Behalf Of John Rodgers Sent: Saturday, March 08, 2008 1:54 AM To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Subject: Re: fuel tank capacity? My 88 GL has a reserve. And it will get me an additional 30 miles min.. It's called a " 2 gal. spare gas can" that goes when the van goes.
